Anthony “Tony” Charles Smith

Age 48 of New Richmond, formerly of Stillwater

Passed away on December 6, 2021.

Anthony was musically gifted. Not only did he write music, but he could also play it by ear. He could hear and visualize the musical notes and identify them. He was self-taught in playing piano, guitar, drums, and even the ukulele. He was in multiple bands with several of his good friends and they played at venues all over the Twin Cities. In recent years, he enjoyed creating remakes of songs. The Beatles was one of his favorite groups.

Anthony was very creative. He could not sit next to any blank piece of paper without sketching a picture. He loved to draw and paint, and then take photos of his creations and further his creative energy with added dimension using computer software. He loved sharing his music and artwork with everyone.

Anthony loved to explore Stillwater, especially the Boomsite which was his favorite place to be. He was an outdoorsman. Growing up, he loved playing in the woods behind his house, encountering poison ivy a number of times. He loved to ride bike and was an avid skateboarder. He would ride his skateboard all over town.

Cooking was a passion of his that he turned into a career. But above all, he loved spending time with his family and friends. He loved to entertain his many nieces and nephews with music, and he enjoyed playing cards with his family. 31 being his favorite of the card games.

Anthony is preceded in death by his parents, Jerome and Marianne Smith.

He is survived by his siblings, Karen (Jim) Mickelson, Steve (Sue) Eikos, Dana (Tom) Schoepke, Drew (Tracy) Smith; many nieces and nephews; and partner, Debra Ostgard.

Memorial Service 7PM Wednesday, December 15th at Bradshaw, 2800 Curve Crest Blvd, Stillwater, with visitation beginning at 5PM. Private family interment at Oakland Cemetery, Marine on St. Croix. In order to keep everyone safe and healthy for the holidays, masks are required.
