Of Little Canada Minnesota died June 23rd, 2021, at the age of 77.She was born in Pitt, Minnesota and graduated early from Lake of the Woods High School. She moved to the Twin Cities when she was 16 to attend the College of Visual Arts in St. Paul. She became a renowned wildlife artist and was the first woman to win the Minnesota State Trout Stamp competition in 1991.She was a strong believer in the rights of women and was the first to use the term “equalist” (instead of “feminist”) ensuring the inclusion of all people.Bev served 24 years on the Little Canada City Council. Among her proudest achievements was the increase in park land to be shared for generations. She was also a founding member of the Little Canada Historical Society. She was elected to the Minnesota State House of Representatives in 2004 where she served 4 terms. In 2012 she was elected to and served one term on the Minnesota State Senate. One of her proudest achievements was co-authoring the Legacy amendment.  Bev was a strong advocate for doing the right thing and working across party lines for the good of the state of Minnesota and her constituents.She was most recently the co-owner of Hoffman Corner Heating and Air Conditioning in White Bear Lake, a business she ran with her late husband Bob and her son John.In her personal life she enjoyed spending time with her granddaughters, inspiring them to be the best they could be and teaching them family traditions. She worked tirelessly to document her and her husband's ancestry so that the history could be passed on. Nowhere else was this more evident than in the family recipes she documented and taught to each one of them.Bev was predeceased by her husband Bob and survived by John and Shannon Scalze, Roger and Gina Masterson and grandchildren Jessica, Finn and Kim Scalze and Anna and Erin Masterson.

The celebration of life will be held Monday August 2nd from 4:00 – 7:00 at BRADSHAW, 4600 Greenhaven Drive & Highway 96 (one mile west of 35E), White Bear.

In lieu of flowers or plants the family is asking for donations to be made in Bev's honor for bike racks in the Little Canada park system. Donations can be made by sending a check written to the City of Little Canada with a memo note of "Bev Scalze donation". Checks can be sent to City Hall 515 Little Canada Road, Little Canada, MN 55117. Or, send money via Venmo to @Bev-Scalze-memorial.
