Born March 30th, 1926 to Norman B. and Marjorie Cobb Mears. Preceded in death by parents, sister Marjorie and brother Elwood. Survived by dear wife of 69 years, Eleanor, sister Florence Tromsness, sons Steven (Cathy), Norm (Robin), Don (Naomi), Bruce (Lynn) and daughter Carol; 13 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Norman attended Humboldt High School and graduated from Central High School in St. Paul. He served in the US Navy Pacific theater during World War II. He later joined the family business, working for Buckbee Mears Company (BMC) where he last served as Chairman of the Board. Norman was a longtime member of First Baptist Church of St. Paul, where he was a moderator and Trustee. He also served as a board member for the Union Gospel Mission, the St. Paul Athletic Club and Junior Achievement. In 1980 he was crowned St. Paul Winter Carnival King Boreas Rex XLIV. In his retirement, N.C. spent his time in the north woods at his beloved Whitefish Lake cabin and in Stuart, FL. He and Eleanor eventually moved to Boutwells Landing, Stillwater. He will be greatly missed and forever remembered for his infectious smile and sunny disposition. The family wishes to thank special caregivers Nancy, Savannah, Jean, Christina, Lindsey and Chaplain Larry. Visitation Sunday, September 20 at 5:00 p.m. followed by 6:00 p.m. Celebration of Life Service at Boutwells Landing, 5590 Norwich Ave., Oak Park Heights, MN.
