Robert Goodman

Robert “Bob” Goodman passed away June 29, 2020. He was born in Carleton County, Minnesota, July 31, 1939. He attended the University of Minnesota, majoring in Political Science. He married Nancy Nietz in September, 1961. The couple lived in Stillwater, Minnesota, for 52 years.

Bob was an independent Minnesota historian, author, and co-author with his wife, of five books on local history. He loved giving talks on history to school groups and organizations. He was very active in the Washington County Historical Society, the Stillwater Heritage Preservation Commission, and the Joseph R. Brown Heritage Society of Henderson, Minnesota.

He worked in various industries in the St. Paul including many years with American Hoist and Derrick. In later years he worked for the University of Minnesota and the U of M Extension Service. Bob was an avid gardener and loved travel to Europe and throughout America.

Bob is survived by his wife of 59 years, two brothers and their families.
