Age 86, of Lake Elmo, passed away peacefully July 23, 2024.

Preceded in death by wife, Judith; parents, Alfred and Dorothy; brother, William; and grandson, Noah. 

Survived by children, Heidi (Mark) McKenzie, Kristi Linder (Dan), Steven (Sarah) Linder, Greg Linder (Kelly), and former daughter-in-law, Brenda; grandchildren, Kate (Mike), Andy (Emma), Kelsey (Cody), Matthew, Joshua, Kendra (Griffin), Emily (Ryan), and Kyle; great-grandson, Ian; sisters, Marilyn Acker and Carol (Mark) Coil; sisters-in-law, Joanne Linder and Carolyn Norsby; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. 

Al was a dedicated member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in North St. Paul where he served on the church council and was scoutmaster of Troop 46. He was passionate about the camping program at Northern Star Scouting, leading the construction of the climbing towers and COPE courses at the council camps. He was a long time chairman of the camping committee, and oversaw the development of Camp Akela at Phillippo Scout Camp. He enjoyed everything outdoors including hunting, fishing, gardening, cross country skiing, and cycling. He spent time with family and friends at the cabin, and enjoyed trips with his wife Judy in their motorhome. After retiring from Northwestern Bell, he worked at Linder’s Greenhouses for many years. 

Memorial service Thursday, August 1, 2024, 11:00 A.M. at St Mark’s Lutheran Church, 2499 Helen Street North, North St Paul with visitation beginning at 10:00 A.M. Please use Door 7W. 

Memorials are preferred to Northern Star Scouting or St. Mark’s Lutheran Church.
