Age 90, died peacefully at home in Oak Park Heights, MN. on 12/23/2010. Born in Mpls and later living in Winnetka, IL and Alma, WI, Sandy attended Blake School and Yale University before serving in the US Army Air Force as a pilot in WW II. He was an executive and then CEO of LaCrosse Dredging Company for over 30 years, and an avid amateur field trial trainer. He is survived by his beloved wife of 68 years, Polly Thompson; their children, Mary, Sandy and Gretchen; 6 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, many relatives and friends; and his beloved dog, Lizzy. He will be remembered for his deep dedication to family; his fierce political opinions; his love of the Mississippi River, music, hunting and dogs; and his gifts as a woodworker, sketch artist and photographer. Memorial Service Wednesday, 1:00 P.M. at BOUTWELLS LANDING SWANSON FAMILY CHAPEL, 5590 Norwich Parkway, Oak Park Heights. Visitation one hour prior. Memorials to donor's preferred charity.
