Alice C. Bukvich age 94, went to her Lord 12/31/2016. Preceded in death by parents, Harry (Jerome) Pelowski and Cecelia Peplinski; husbands, "Lefty" Goulet and Robert Bukvich; special friend, Merill Stenzel; brother, Jerry (Sue) and sister, Ann (Jim). Survived by daughter, Ann Marie Lewerer; grandson, Jon (Amy) Lewerer and many friends. Alice was a gentle, generous spirit who loved unconditionally; especially toward her daughter and grandson. Most weekends she could be found at the race track waving Jon to victory. As a young woman she was a nanny in Winona, MN. The family wintered in West Palm Beach, and they took her to Cuba to visit. In 1941 at 19 years old she went to Chicago and worked in a munitions factory making hand grenades. One of her co-workers turned out to be a war spy. In MN she worked as a book bookbinder. She was a bowler, gardener and avid volunteer at the VA Hospital. Most Christmas' and New Year's Eve's she and Lefty and then Merill spent with recovering soldiers. She is missed. Active most of her life with the American legion (units 358 and 577). Alice served as the Volunteer representative of ALA for 25 years at the VA Hospital. Alice received many unit, state and national awards for her work at the VA. Thank you to staff at Woodbury Health Care and to Chaplain Basil for her loving care. Mass of Christian Burial 11:00AM Saturday, January 7, 2017 at PRESENTATION CHURCH OF MAPLEWOOD, 1725 Kennard Street. Visitation 1 hour prior to Mass. Interment at Fort Snelling at a later date. Memorials preferred.
