Allan T. "Al" Palmer

Age 82, of Stillwater, passed away on December 27, 2024 at Lakeview Hospital after a brave battle with cancer. Preceded in death by his wife of 52 years and the love of his life, Georgann; parents, Allen and Margaret (nee Dougherty); cousin, Steve; and lifelong friend, Dave Cole. 

He will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered by his daughters, Christy, of Spooner, WI, Carla, of Stillwater, MN, and Allison (Bethany Stoehr), of Mounds View, MN; as well as the "card club", other relatives, and at least a million friends and buddies.

Al’s life was a testament to resilience, kindness and an unwavering commitment to his family. He was adored by his daughters, respected by his peers and loved by so many friends in his life. As a young man, Al served two years active duty with the United States Navy and a subsequent 4 years in the Navy Reserves. On October 14, 1966, Al married the love of his life Georgann Mortensen and together had three daughters. His unconditional love for his girls was indisputable, he was their rock. Al chose a career as a Deputy Sheriff for Washington County and committed 28 years from 1969-1997 when he retired. He lived by the principles of Integrity, character and honesty throughout his career and life. He loved to golf and was a longtime member of the Stillwater Country Club. Some time ago, Al and Georgann decided Minnesota winters were not for them and “wintering” in Ft Myers Florida would allow them to continue their love of golf year-round. After Georgann passed in 2018, Al continued his Snowbird status and was often joined by one, two or all three of his daughters for extended visits, as well perfecting his golf game with his good friend John Rogness. How lucky we are to have had someone that makes saying goodbye so hard.
