Amy Kathleen Whetham, 35, died unexpectedly on Thursday, Feb. 13, 2014 at her home in Stillwater, Minn. Amy was born on Sept. 28, 1978 in Regina, Saskatchewan to Robert and Wendy Whetham. She lived in Canada until 1980, at which point her family moved to St. Paul and later on to Stillwater. where she resided throughout most of her childhood and adult life.
Amy attended elementary, middle and junior high school in Stillwater and Oak Park Heights. She graduated from Stillwater Area High School in 1997. She worked in the food service industry for several years, until recently when she attended Century College in White Bear Lake and earned an associates degree. She started a career as an IT professional after graduation, most recently working in a contract position for 3M.
On Nov. 15, 2000, Amy welcomed the great joy of her life when daughter Liliana (Lily), Whetham entered the world. Amy adored being a mother to Lily. She loved special movie dates and time spent playing games with her daughter.
Amy was a talented artist who excelled in painting and drawing. She enjoyed spending time outdoors and always looked forward to camping trips with friends and family. She was an avid reader, a thoughtful neighbor and a kind soul who was always ready to listen to friends in need. Her sense of humor, easy-going nature and beautiful smile will be greatly missed.
She is survived by her daughter, Lily of Stillwater; her parents Robert and Wendy Whetham, also of Stillwater; a brother, Edward Whetham, of St. Paul; her twin brother Joseph (Melinda) Whetham and niece Emmelyn of Salt Lake City, Utah; as well as several aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
A celebration of Amy's life is scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 20 at Bradshaw Funeral Home, 2800 Curve Crest Blvd., in Stillwater from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
A private burial will take place in June.
