Passed peacefully into heaven on September 12, 2008, surrounded by his loving family. Husband of 67 years to Edythe (Gunderson) Weekes. Preceded in death by his parents, George and Iva Weekes, brother Wayne and son Gerald. Survived by his wife Edythe, son Steven (Monica), daughter Susan Carlson; grandchildren: Sandra Cade, Douglas Weekes (Shirley), Barbara Carlson, Jeffrey Carlson (Lucia), Erica Kanewischer (Jeffrey), Skyler Weekes, Shauna Tuttle, Vikki Heinrich, Steve Montez, Julie Voight-Olson (Kevin), and Kimarie Schroeder (Mike), along with 15 great-grandchildren. Ariel was born in Flasher, North Dakota on April 23, 1918, and spent his youth in Duluth, Minnesota. He was a resident of New Brighton, Minnesota for 59 years. He served with the 15th Air Force, as an officer in the Army Air Corps, and was a lead bombadier during World War II. He had a long career in management with several Twin City trucking firms. A co-founder of Weekes Forest Products of St. Paul, serving on the company board of directors for 22 years. He had a lifelong passion for aviation and was active in the 8th Air Force Historical Society. He also enjoyed the Men?s Fellowship Breakfast group at St. Philips Lutheran Church in Fridley, MN. His hobbies included fishing, boating and watching Minnesota sports teams. A devoted family man, he will be greatly missed. Funeral services 10:30 AM Wednesday, September 17, 2008, ST. PHILIP?S EVANGELICAL LUTHERAN CHURCH, 6180 Highway 65 N.E., Fridley, MN. Interment Fort Snelling National Cemetery. Visitation 7 to 9 PM Tuesday at BRADSHAW, 4600 Greenhaven Drive & Hwy 96, White Bear, (8 blocks West of I-35 on Highway 96) and 1 hour before service at church. Memorials preferred to the Salvation Army.
