Joined the Lord Wednesday, June 11, 2014 at home surrounded by family. Preceded in death by parents, Harold and Emma Kling, and sister, Shirley Kleven. Survived by husband and best friend of 57 years, Robert L. Swenson; daughters, Jill D. Swenson, and Barbara D. (Eric) Nelson; grandchildren, Ben & Emma Nelson; sister, Audrey Bolton of Warroad, MN; extended family and many friends. Arlene enjoyed gardening, sewing, golfing, cooking and entertaining, and traveling extensively. Whether in snowy MN or a Saudi Arabian desert, Arlene was able to make any place a home for her family. She took great joy in being a grandmother and she was great at it. A celebration of Arlene's life will be held on Monday, June 16, 2014 at 2 PM at MEMORIAL LUTHERAN CHURCH, 15730 S. Afton Blvd, Afton with a visitation one hour prior to the service at church. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Memorial Lutheran Church.
