Arline Peres

Arline Caspersen Peres, born July 12, 1918, in Brooklyn, NY died November 13, 2012, in Stillwater, MN. Raised in New London CT, she attended Columbia Presbyterian Hospital School of Nursing, NYC, and graduated in 1939. She later moved with her husband, Alfred, to Merrick, NY where she received a BS in Nursing from Adelphi University and worked as a school nurse. When the family later moved to Clearwater, FL, she joined the Nursing Department faculty at St. Petersburg Junior College in Tampa, and, later, at Morton Plant Hospital in Clearwater, she served as a nursing program developer, and a member of both the Hospital Education Department and the Ethics Committee.
She was devoted to her patients and students and was loved and respected by them as well, in part, because of her empathy, practicality, and high standards of care.
Arline's other avid interests included music, tennis, and travel. She and her husband were particularly fond of attending Elderhostels throughout the country and around the world.
Her parents, Eivind and Olivia Caspersen, and her husband, Alfred Peres, preceded her in death. She is survived by her daughter, Madeleine (John) MacIndoe of Stillwater, MN, her son Roy (Kathy) Peres of Cape Coral, FL, and granddaughters Lindsay Arline MacIndoe (Wendy Holding), Michelle Elizabeth Peres, and great grandson, Jasper Shaw Holding MacIndoe. She will be remembered as a warm and loving matriarch with a wonderful sense of humor. Her life was one of devotion to family and kindness and caring for others.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests any memorials to be made to the American Cancer Society or the Lee and Rose Warner Nature Center, Marine on St. Croix, MN.
