Arvid Luther Lokensgard passed away peacefully in Minneapolis on May 22, 2022. He was born in Minneapolis in 1941, and resided at Friendship Village in Bloomington since 2010. Arv graduated in 1963 from St. Olaf College, where he sang in the choir, and Fargo Central High School in 1959, a star football player. He married Kathryn Substad in 1963 and took a position with Cargill, Inc. in Tennessee, then later with E.F. Hutton in L.A. and Mpls. After a short stint developing oil/gas projects in TX and LA and agricultural projects in the CA desert, Arv returned to Hutton in Reno, and then finished his career at Piper Jaffray in Sacramento in 1998. He is survived by his daughter Sara (Bruce) Dickinson, son Sig (Deborah) Lokensgard, and daughter Laura (Michial) Ryan; their mother Kathryn Lokensgard; grandchildren Anna, Ruthie, Abby, Luke, Micah, Naomi and David; his sister Ann (Wally) Oien and brother Alan Lokensgard; nieces Carolyn Lokensgard (Paul Wallace), Kari Bosco, and nephew Mark (Cristiane) Lokensgard; along with grand-nieces and nephews Elijah, Gracia, Samuel, Mariana and Jonas. He is preceded in death by his parents, Fritjof and Maxine Lokensgard and his niece, Kirsten Norberg. The Celebration of Life service for Arv will be held at Friendship Village on Saturday July 23 at 1:30 pm (masks required) at 8100 Highwood Drive, Bloomington. Memorials suggested to World Vision or charity of donor’s choice.
