Barbara “Barbie” (Berken)

Age 70 of Marine on St. Croix

Loving wife, mother, grandmother

After years of battling persistent health issues, Barbie passed peacefully in Florida on February 4, 2022, with her husband at her side. She was preceded in death by her father, Robert Berken; mother, Grace Lassen; stepfather, Francis Lassen; brother, Robert Berken; sister, Mary Ann Buetow.

A generous soul who loved crafting, Barbie was always making gifts for others. She would never accept payment for her projects, but was intent on sharing them with everyone. Sewing, stamping and quilting kept her going, as well as donating her time and effort to various charities. Barbie loved nothing more than seeing a smile on another’s face. She was intentional about expressing gratitude and letting others know they were appreciated.

She will be deeply missed by those who survive her: her husband of 50 years, Kenneth; children, Jeffrey (Pamela), Troy (Julie Cayer), Brad; grandchildren, Jacob (Victoria Hutchinson), Austin, Blake; siblings, James (Carol) Berken, Thomas (Barbara) Berken, Janet (Curt) Gustafson, Mark (Lynn) Berken.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, March 19, with visitation at 10AM followed by Mass at 11AM at ST. PETER’S CATHOLIC CHURCH, 1250 S Shore Dr, Forest Lake. Visitation will be 4-8PM Friday, March 18 at BRADSHAW, 2800 Curve Crest Blvd., Stillwater (prayer service at 7pm). Memorials preferred to donor’s choice.
