Barbara Jean Simmons
Simmons, Barbara Jean Beloved Wife, Mother Grandmother and Mentor Passed away April 13, 2007. Preceded in death by father, Kermitt Wheeler Sr. She will be greatly missed by husband, Samuel, with whom she shared 50 wonderful years of marriage; mother, Doris E. Wheeler; children, Samuel John (Terresa), Deborah Jean (Victor) Harris, Michael Scott, Sherri Lynne (Bruce) Day; grandchildren, Shayna, Tasha, Nicholas, Jonathan, Joshua, Justice Cameron, Nicole, Elliott and Jasmin; brothers, Kermitt (Billie) Wheeler and Donald Wheeler. Barbara touched the lives of many students, faculty and staff for 25 years at Hamline University, from which she retired as Assistant Academic Dean of Students. Service Friday, April 20, 10 AM at CHRIST TEMPLE APOSTOLIC CHURCH, 2651 N. Hamline Ave, Roseville. Interment Fort Snelling National Cemetery. Visitation Thursday, April 19, 3-7 PM at church, and also one-hour prior to service on Friday. Memorials preferred to: Barbara Simmons Endowed Scholarship Fund at Hamline University.
