Bently Kriewald

d. August 30, 2018

Bently (Ben) H. Kriewald, 52, passed away suddenly on August 30, 2018. Preceded in death by his first wife, Barb L. Kriewald. Bently is survived by his wife, Catie Kriewald; his three sons, Nick A. Kriewald, Nathan R. Kriewald and Bently T. Kriewald; his parents, Anne and Gerald James Kriewald; and his siblings, Danny Kriewald, Bonnie Kriewald and Jerry Kriewald; and many more relatives and amazing friends.

There are truly no words that can do justice to Bently's life and the impact he had on those around him. To be honest, Bently would have hated this damn obituary. Instead he would have asked everyone to come together for a party. You would have walked into his home and almost immediately he would have insisted you have a nice glass of wine or a recently chilled beer. He would have been cooking up some elaborate meal and would tell you to help yourself to some artfully displayed appetizers. While he cooked he would have looked at all his family and friends and smiled... it was a smile filled with love, pride and joy in having the ones he loved around him. During dinner Bently would have shrugged off comments about how amazing his cooking was and instead told you stories about a recent or past motorcycle trip on one of his BMWs. He would have capped the night off by making you a perfectly muddled Old Fashioned specifically for your liking, asked to play some cribbage and together you would have reminisced about old times or adventures yet to come.

Bently was at his best entertaining and providing hospitality, but never wanted to be the center of attention. That's probably why he was such an amazing hotel general manager. He was a behind the scenes man who worked hard, but ensured his work family became a part of his real family.

Bently was an adventurer who didn't care much for rules. He loved riding motorcycles, skiing and traveling. But most of all he loved his three sons and wife. They were the joys of his life and led him to live as long as he was able.

Bently was not perfect, but there is no person on Earth who is. Mental health and depression are serious and most often silent. Bently's family urges anyone experiencing depression or for those of you who know a loved one is struggling with depression to seek help, to speak out and to end the stigma: https://suicidepreventionlifeline.org/. 1-800 -273-Talk
