Bernice Bridges

Bernice (B.B.) Bridges, 69-years-old, of South Minneapolis, passed away on Wednesday, May 23rd, 2018. She may have been a Minneapolis resident, but if you knew her, you know she always repped the "WEST SIDE!!" of Chicago where she resided during her young adulthood. She was born in Racine, WI, on March 1st, 1949, to the late Mildred Obry and Edward Jackiewicz.

After being forbidden from attending high school during her youth, later in life, she returned to attain her high school diploma at Parkside High School. Further down the line, she went on to pursue a college education in her late 40's - all while working a full-time job and raising four children on her own as a single mother.

This garnered the attention of the U of M's newspaper in which they made an article dedicated to her. She successfully acquired a Bachelors of Arts degree from the University of Minnesota. She retired in 2016 after working for the USDA APHIS Human Resources Division.

Bernice loved sewing, crocheting, cooking, baking, pinning on Pinterest, photography, playing Bubble Bobble and Angry Birds, listening to Luther Vandross, and her favorite - talking crap. :)

Bernice is survived by eight children; Billy Bridges, Tina Bridges, Louis Johnson, Renee Monette, Chanel Bridges, Rechard Bridges, Chamera Morgan, and Jermaine Morgan. She is also survived by eight grandchildren; Louis Johnson Jr., Riley Johnson, Rechard Bridges II, Jayla Stanton, Kaleb Mishler, Elissa Bynum, Eric Bynum, and Jaxon Stanton.
