Age 85, of Stillwater
Passed away December 11, 2022
Proceeded in death by her husband of 56 years, William “Bill” Drier. Survived by children, Lisa
(Rick) Allen and Eric Drier; grandchildren, Benjamin and Matthew Allen; loved ones Bernard
(Betty) Drier, Barb Clark, Jim (Ann) Drier, many nieces, nephews, and other family and friends.
Growing up, Bernice had a love for music and played piano. She also played saxophone in High
School for both Marching Band and Concert Band.
Professionally, Bernice was a teacher, graduating with a Bachelor’s degree from St. Cloud State
University. She started her teaching in Stillwater where she met her husband, Bill Drier, also a
teacher. Bernice started teaching 2 nd grade when she first came to Stillwater. After taking off
some time to raise her kids when they were young,
she returned to teaching in ESL (English as a
second language).
Bernice and Bill were married in 1961. Together on their hobby farm they raised two children,
Lisa and Eric. They also bred and raised dogs and horses, having as many as thirteen horses at
one time. Music and dancing were favorite pastimes she also shared with her husband. Together
they belonged to “Wondering Wheels” a square dancing camp group for several years.
Bernice loved volunteering, touching many lives with her energy. In her community at The
Lakes in Stillwater she helped where she could and was on the Resident Council.
She was
always a very active person.
Funeral service will be held Tuesday, December 20th, at SALEM LUTHERAN CHURCH,
14940 62 nd Street North, Stillwater at 3:30 P.M. with a visitation one hour prior to the service at
the church. Private interment at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
