Passed away peacefully surrounded by family on October 5, 2012. Preceded in death by devoted husband of 65 years, Fred; sister, Clare Edwardson; and brother, Ervin Newhouse. Beloved mother of Bernadine "Bebe" (Shell) Gordon, Holly "Corky" (Bruce) Zschokke and Fred "Joey" (Janice) Glassing; dearest grandmother of Mary (Doug) Gerrelts, Larry (Anneliese) Glassing, Zachary Lerner, Derek (Lis), Ryan (Stephanie), Dan (Kendra), and Tara Zschokke; great-grandmother of, Christine and Joshua Gerrelts, Kate, Taylor and Jacob Zschokke, and Hagan Glassing. Also survived by sister, Lolly Schofield; sister-in-law, Juell Newhouse; many nieces, nephews and friends. Bernice was the first woman elected to District 3 & 8 School Boards and was a dedicated DARTS volunteer. Service Tuesday, 10:00 A.M. at FIRST CALVARY BAPTIST CHURCH, 5495 South Robert Trail, Inver Grove Heights. Interment Old Salem Shrine Cemetery. Visitation Monday (TODAY), 4:00-8:00 P.M. and also one hour prior to the service ALL AT THE CHURCH.
