Bonita “Bonnie” Ohata (Elias)
Age 74 of Maplewood Passed away peacefully from an unexpected illness on October 3, 2022 at St. Therese’s at Odilia in Shoreview. Bonnie was born on June 18, 1948 in St. Paul
Preceded in death by husband, Mervin (Bo); parents, Ray and Marie. Survived by daughter, Tina (Dan) Roeser of Hugo; son, Derek (Tricia) Ohata of Herriman, UT; grandchildren, Jackson and Kendall Roeser; siblings, Barb Ketola; Terri (Bill) Garrison; Kath (TK) Kullmann and Mike (Kris) Elias; along with many nieces and nephews. Bonnie graduated from North High School and received her LPN in nursing. She spent several years in Hawaii as a LPN and then eventually returned to St. Paul with a husband and daughter in tow. She went on to run a successful in-home daycare where she spent many years devoted to caring for children; many of whom became part of her family. Last year she moved to Maplewood where she met a wonderful group of friends at the Frost English Silver apartment complex. Bonnie had a great love for animals, especially dogs and wearing Flip Flops. Her loving spirit and sassy personality will be missed by all who knew her.
A celebration of life is being planned for November.
