Age 88, of Maplewood, MN

Passed away peacefully on July 19, 2024. Survived by his wife of 64 years, Mary; sons Carl L. (Kristin); Stephen (Maureen); and John (Jane); brother Ernest; sister Trudy; grandchildren Katrin, Marie, Olivia, Sophie, and Andre. Preceded in death by parents Gertrude and William; brothers Robert and William; and sons Louis and Matthew. Attended Johnson HS and the University of Minnesota. Career at Schroeder Milk Company, a four-generation family-owned business, and its subsidiary Speedy Markets. A proud veteran, Carl served as a sergeant and radio technician in the US Marine Corps.

With a passion for learning, Carl studied history, geology, and astronomy. He enjoyed storytelling, tinkering, fixing things, and was a skilled woodworker, spending many happy hours creating furniture and carvings in his wood shop at the lake home he and Mary built in Walker, MN.

Funeral service Monday, July 29 at 11:00 a.m. with visitation one hour prior, at BRADSHAW, 4600 Greenhaven Dr., White Bear Lake, MN 55127, followed by luncheon. Interment Elmhurst Cemetery. Memorials to Doctors without Borders, or charity of donor's choice.
