Died June 21, 2011, following a short illness. Born in Greenleaf, KS. Was a proud University of Kansas graduate. Made the most of retirement serving in the Peace Corps in the Kyrgyz Republic from 2003-2005. Preceded in death by parents Charles and Alice (Snyder) Harkness and wife Mary Claire Madole. Survived by his three children Eric, Tom (Cynthia) and Megan, two granddaughters Elisa and Anna , brother Hosea (Lily) and sister Mary Teschner and other relatives. Memorial Service July 23, 2011, at Bradshaw Celebration of Life Center in Stillwater. Memorials preferred to the University of Kansas Endowment, St. Croix Valley Friends Meeting, or the Peace Corps Kyrgyz Republic Project Fund.
