Charles “Chuck” MacKenzie, age 91 of Bloomington, died peacefully after a brief illness on April 24, 2022. He passed while his daughter held his hand, and his granddaughter placed her hand lovingly over his heart.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Sandra; children, Laurie (Mike) Craft, Jo Lee Rief, Scott (Melissa) MacKenzie; grandchildren, Kelsie Pike, Amanda Craft, Katie Craft, Megan Craft, Amelia MacKenzie; great-grandson, Noah Pike; sister, Romelle Thielman. Chuck was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Clara; and brother-in-law, Lee Thielman.
Chuck was born and raised in Faribault and educated at the University of St. Thomas and the University of Minnesota where he received a master’s degree in music. He was a devoted father, husband, and grandfather. He was also a published author, a gifted pianist, and a talented cook. He had a special fondness for his dogs, for baseball, and for ghost stories. When he wasn’t working for the Minnesota Department of Finance, he enjoyed time at the family cabin on French Lake near Faribault.
