Stillwater

Charles (Chuck) Stephan Seum passed away peacefully in Saint Paul, Minnesota after a courageous 3 4 -year battle with multiple forms of cancer , most notably Hairy Cell Leukemia . He was 72 years old and preceded in death by his parents Mary and Charles Seum. He is survived by his beloved wife of 49 years Robbie Seum who, as he recently said, “ Is stronger the weaker I become .” He is also survived by daughter Janine Seum, son Bradley Seum (Natalie Waters Seum) , and grandson Henry Seum.

Chuck was born in Illinois and attended Purdue University where he earned a bachelor’s degree in aeronautical engineering and master’s degree in industrial engineering. He was a proud member of the Triangle Fraternity there and cherished the life-long friendships he made at Purdue.

After graduating, he and Robbie lived in Alabama where he was a captain in the Air Force serving at the Air Force computer center . They relocated to the Twin Cities in 1976 and lived first in Maple Grove and then in Lake Elmo and Stillwater. Chuck had a successful career in programming, first with Control Data and then with 3M and United Defense . He retired in 2010 in order to spend more time with his family and do the things he loved including fishing, cooking, following Purdue athletics, traveling, walking, and gardening. He loved the outdoors and annual fishing trips north with his beloved friends and family.

Chuck will be remembered by family and friends for his steadfast positive attitude. No matter what challenge came his way, he was willing and ready to overcome it. It was his attitude and perseverance , along with exceptional care from Drs. Jaffe and Jahagirdar and countless other healthcare professionals at Lakeview and Regions Hospital s , that allowed him to thrive through countless battles with cancer. He rests peacefully now.

A private gathering will be held. Memorials are preferred to Lakeview Health Foundation Oncology Program Fund.
