Charles W. Swann was born on June 1,1940 and died on September 8, 2021 after a brief illness. He is survived by his loving wife, of 62 years, Sharlene (Sharry), sons Eric and Jeremy Swann, sister Hilda Swann Lipscy and brother, Clifford Swann Jr. He was preceded in death by his parents, Margaret and Clifford Swann, and sister Catherine Swann Stanley. He was loved and will be missed by his immediate and extended family and many friends.
Charlie enjoyed a long and distinguished career as an Extension Agronomy Professor at the Universities of Georgia and Virginia Tech. Eleven years ago he and Sharry moved to Boutwells Landing in Oak Heights, Minnesota.
Always active in the United Methodist Church Charlie served in a variety of leadership roles. He had a passion for growing both vegetables and beautiful flowers in his gardens wherever they lived.
Traveling together was a favorite of Sharry and Charlie’s. They always appreciated the beautiful scenery, no matter where they were. They found joy exploring many new destinations and making friends along the way.
Charlie will always be remembered as a quiet and gentle soul who loved deeply.
In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to donor’s choice.
