Charles Irvin Wikelius

December 13, 1948 — November 17, 2024

Charles Irvin Wikelius (12-13-1948 to 11-17-2024) "Charlie," as his friends and family knew him, was a kind, gentle, Swede whose compassion, love, and dedication to fairness left an indelible mark on all those he loved and fortunate to love him. Charlie is survived by his wife of 49 years, Ann Bellows; Son, Greg and his wife, Clarisa Hernandez; Daughter, Kate and her husband, Bill Combes.

Life growing up on a dairy farm near Lindstrom, Minnesota, cultivated the work ethic and modesty emblematic of Charlie. Preceded in death by parents, Bernette and Irvin as well as sister, Kathy, the farmhouse would remain a gathering place for Charlie and his other three siblings Norm (Rajani), Karen (Steve Graves), and Larry (Sandy). Charlie followed his father's advice by not becoming a farmer but enrolling and excelling at the University of Minnesota for undergraduate and then law school.

After Law School, Charlie would go to work for the Minnesota Attorney General, a position that perfectly suited his compassion for those underserved and his persistent pursuit of justice. As with his career in public service, Charlie's time with Allianz Life was marked by an impeccable record, always doing what was right for the customer. He was a beloved colleague and leader throughout his career.

The exacting and scrupulous nature that propelled Charlie's legal career permeated his personal life, making him the ideal counsel for family or friends in need, ever quick to offer advice, wit, or a helpful Excel spreadsheet. Charlie was well-loved by the community of neighbors and friends (both old and new) that he and Ann built in Stillwater.

Later in life, Charlie dedicated himself to a new group: His five young grandchildren. Charlie's warm heart and serene demeanor made him the ideal grandpa or "Bubba" to Charlie, Benjamin, Lucia, Colin, and Liliana, ensuring that his legacy remains forever in their hearts.

We would like to thank Lakeview Oncology, Lakeview Hospice, and the Pillars Hospice Home for the wonderful care Charlie received.
