Chewey Herr

On August 2, 2021, Chewey Txawjyis Herr passed away at the age of 56 years. He was surrounded by his loved ones. He was born in Paksong, Laos to Txooj Kuam Hawj and Nplias Xyooj. Chewey is survived by his mother, Blia Xiong; his wife, Paj Herr; children, Pakou (N. Shingsay Lee), Sophie Iab (N. Menue Vue), Darlene Ntxoo (N. Jeffrey Thao), Christian Phoojywg, Katrina Kajtshiab and Isabelle Nkauj Zoo; his siblings, Nyaj Npis, Ntxoov Laaj, Tshuas Keej, Xub, Txawjxaav, Maivlis, Ntxawm, Ntsum and Kaabzuag.

Chewey proudly worked for the City of Eau Claire from 1990-2013. In 2013, he moved his family to St. Paul, Minnesota to live his dream of owning a restaurant. He successfully ran Her Kitchen from 2013 to 2020.

Chewey was an extremely hardworking and determined person who could accomplish anything he set his mind to. Even at the age of 55, he was still active. He ran 2-3 miles a day, worked out, and played sports. Some of his favorite sports were volleyball, soccer and kato. He was talented at many things: plumbing, electrical work, landscaping, martial arts, drawing, sewing, cooking, hunting and fishing. He also loved music and played multiple instruments.

He was adventurous and an entrepreneur. He pushed others to work hard and dream big. He always encouraged others to be bold and live their dreams. He was a happy person, full of fun and energy. He always saw things on the bright side.

Chewey loved his wife, children and grandchildren deeply. He found much joy in simply spending time with them and teaching them. His life and legacy will live on in the hearts and minds of everyone he interacted with. Chewey is loved and will be deeply missed by family, friends, and all who knew him.
