Christine Ann Bier

Christine Ann Bier, age 71, of Minneapolis, MN passed away on Thursday, September 14, 2023. Chris was
born on March 21, 1952 to JaRene and Roland Soder in St. Paul, MN. Chris grew up in St. Paul, attending
Lutheran parochial schools through 8th grade, graduating from Harding High School in St. Paul, MN. She also
completed a two year degree at Rasmussen College.
Chris met her love, Gary, while working as order takers at Metro Mobility. When Metro Mobility privatized in
1986, she chose to leave and then discovered her new calling in in-home daycare. For the next 28 years, “Ms.
Chris” (and family) welcomed children into their home, treating both parents and children like family. Ms. Chris
focused on fun AND learning for all children who came into her care. She greatly enjoyed the continuing
education classes she attended and brought these best practices into her home. Ms. Chris made every
birthday special and always made sure the kids took home personalized Mother’s Day and Father’s Day cards.
After retiring in 2014, Chris enjoyed keeping in touch with her daycare family as much as her beloved extended
family.
Chris sought to treat everyone with kindness and love. For Chris, this love was rooted in the love and peace of
her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Chris was an avid porcelain doll collector, liked doing puzzles, singing
karaoke and decorating for the holidays, especially Christmas and Halloween. She loved science fiction and
crime dramas. One of Chris’ love languages was gift giving. She took an interest in what the kids around her
loved, learning about it in depth and then delighted in finding just the right gift for them.
Chris is survived by her husband Gary of Minneapolis, MN; her children Renee Haberle (Keith) of Osceola, WI
and Nathan Bier (Elizabeth) of Greenwood, WI; her grandchildren Collin Haberle, Connor Haberle and Paige
Gates (Jordon); her siblings Susan Rae (Tom) of Jacksonville, FL, Sandra Archer (Phillip) of St. Paul, MN,
Linda Polumbo (Leo) of Winter Haven, FL and Curtis VanTassell (Heather) of Anniston, AL. Christine is also
survived by many beloved nieces and nephews, other extended family members and friends who will miss her
dearly. Chris was preceded in death by her parents.
A memorial service will be held at 2pm on Saturday, October 14 at St. Paul-Reformation Lutheran Church, 100
North Oxford St, St. Paul, MN. Rev. Patrick Shebeck will preside. Family and friends are welcome from 1pm
until the start of the service. All are invited to remain for a meal and fellowship following the service. In lieu of
flowers, please make a donation to your favorite charity in Chris’ name.
