Cindy Flash was born in 1956 in Saint Paul, MN to Dick and Jean Myers. Cindy grew up in Maplewood and graduated from Tartan High School. Cindy was fascinated with the concept of a Kibbutz, and a communal agricultural community. In 1979 she came as a volunteer to Kibbutz Nir Am in the western Negev region in Israel.
Igal Flash was born in 1957 in Kibbutz Netzer Sereni, Israel, to Rachel and Jacob Flash, Holocaust refugees from Poland, who arrived in Israel shortly before the State of Israel was founded. When Igal was 6 years old, the family moved from the Kibbutz to Ayanot, and later left for the city. When he was 18, he joined a Nahal group to return to the Kibbutz life he loved so much, and so he came to Kibbutz Nir Am.
Igal and Cindy met in Nir AM and quickly became a couple. They were married in 1983 and had three daughters, Maayan, Tali, and Keren. In 2001 they moved to Kibbutz Kfar Aza where they built their home and became a part of the vibrant community.
Igal earned a M. Sc from the Faculty of Agriculture, Hebrew University and was an agronomy lead instructor in the Ministry of Agriculture for cotton and a sought-after agricultural consultant. Igal retired from the Israeli Ministry of agriculture and continued consulting and teaching Internationally in conservation farming.
Cindy graduated from University of Wisconsin, River Falls with a BA in Sociology. Much later she earned her MA in History from Tel Aviv University. She was an administrative coordinator for the Department of Public Administration and Policy at Sapir College. She retired January 2023. Cindy sang in the Eshkol Choir, which traveled internationally.
On October 7, 2023, Igal and Cindy were murdered in their home during the attack on the Kibbutz by the Hamas terrorists.
Igal and Cindy were peace-loving individuals, humanitarians and activists. They were loved and respected by all who met them. They are survived by their three daughters, two sons-in-law and two granddaughters. Cindy is also survived by her mother, two siblings and their families. Igal is survived by two siblings and their families.
A service will be held Monday, November 20, 2023, 2:00 P.M. with a time of sharing until 4:00 P.M. at BRADSHAW CELEBRATION OF LIFE CENTER, 2800 Curve Crest Boulevard, Stillwater.
