Clair 'Bud' Helvig
Age 86 of White Bear Lake, formerly of Breezy Point, went to be with the Lord on October 7, 2018.
Preceded in death by parents, Greg and Dorothy Helvig; sisters, Jeannette, Nadine and Cheryl.
Survived by Jo-Ann, loving and devoted wife of 62 years; children, Scott (Debbie), Sandy, and Steve; grand-children, Brandon, Charlene, Michael (Sarah), Michele, Stephanie, Steven and Samantha (Storm); great-grandchildren, Lilah, Henry, Clara and Autumn.
Bud graduated from Robbinsdale High School class of 1949. He enlisted in the Navy May 1951 and served four years in the Naval Mobile Brigade or 'CB's'. He was a thirty-eight-year employee with Honeywell. Mostly in building 502 in New Brighton as head carpenter and union steward with Teamster Local 1145.
In 1980 he built a lake home for him and his wife Jo-Ann on Lake Ossawinnamakee near Breezy Point. They resided there for 30 years before moving to White Pine Assisted Living, White Bear Lake, MN in 2014. Bud and Jo-Ann traveled extensively throughout the United States. First with their children and a tent camper, then with the grandkids and a trailer and finally, just the two of them upgrading to hotels.
Bud liked to hunt grouse, pheasant and deer with his sons and salmon fish on Lake Michigan with his son-in-law Chuck. He was adored by his daughter and granddaughters who enjoyed his easy-going manner, puns, jokes and his willingness to listen. He was a man of integrity and an all-around 'nice' guy. We will miss him but cherish our memories.
Special thanks to the staff at White Pine Assisted Living for their loving care.
Private family services will be held.
