Clarice Burnside

Blenndinah Clarice Burnside, 85, passed away Thursday Nov. 23, 2017. She was preceded in death by her husband, Orvin Charles Burnside, and by her first husband, Orvis Elayton Rude. Clarice was a teacher for most of her life. She taught grade school in Detroit Lakes, MN. She attended Concordia College in Moorhead and completed her degree from Moorhead State College. She was an active member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Audubon, MN, and then later in life at Messiah Lutheran Church in St. Paul. Clarice had the opportunity to travel all over the US and the world. She enjoyed quilting, hunting, music, gardening, and genealogy. She is survived by her brother, Willard Hanson (Elizabeth Parks); children, Nicholas Rude (Jo), Brenda Jonason, Timothy Rude, Kristi Shoemaker (Michael), and Bruce Burnside (Sandy); 15 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Memorial Service Saturday, Dec 2nd, 2:00 P.M. with visitation one hour prior, all at MESSIAH LUTHERAN CHURCH, 2848 County Road H2, Mounds View, 55112. Burial in Detroit Lakes, MN. In lieu of flowers, memorials will be given to the American Breast Cancer Foundation. Clarice was a breast cancer survivor for 42 years and the foundation was very important to her throughout her life.
