Damara Alexis Kirkland
Age 35, of St. Paul, Minneosta, passed away on October 19, 2024.
Damara was born on May 24, 1989 in Minneapolis, MN to parents, Gregory Kirkland and Melode Bowmont. She was hard-working, determined, and very independent, graduating from Central High School in 2008. Growing up she loved basketball, coloring and doodling (which she still loved as an adult), and music. One of her favorite songs as a young lady was Mary J. Blige's "I'm Going Down" which she used to sing loud and with all of her heart. Damara was an all or nothing kind of girl. If she was with you, she would give you her all. Always sweet, kind and compassionate, she was also very protective of her family.
One thing about Damara was that she always wanted to become a mother. She finally got her wish, though only a few weeks along she already started preparing to become a mother. With a box full of precious mementos and keepsakes, including her pregnancy test, ultrasound pictures, and with other things. Her child would have been truly loved and Damara would have been a great mother.
Damara was preceeded in death by stepmother, Nikeysha Lewis; aunt, Willie "Wink" Kirkland; and Margaret "Margie" Kennedy.
She is survived by her father, Gregory Kirkland; mother, Melode Bowmont; brothers and sisters, William "Billy", Gregory "Mugsey", Charlie "Boe", Khari, Khadija, Denario, Marcus, and Marchay; grandmothers, Mary Frances Kirkland and Joan Beed; along with a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
Damara was loved by many and will be dearly missed.
Fly high angel.
