Dana Blanck

Blanck, Dana A. age 68, died in her home in Minneapolis on April, 29, 2017. Dana was born on November 4, 1948, in Spencer, Iowa to Dale and Ellen Jackson. She and her younger siblings, Rick and Laurie, were raised in Council Bluffs, Des Moines and West Des Moines, Iowa. Dana excelled in music and sports and became an accomplished pianist, violinist and accompanist. She was chosen for Iowa All-State Orchestra numerous times and attended Interlochen Music Camp in Michigan. Dana continued her music studies at Morningside College in Iowa and the University of Minnesota. Dana wove her love of music and children of all ages into an amazing and long-lived career in Minneapolis. In her home music studio as well as at numerous area preschools, Dana inspired young people to find their own musical voices. Mayflower United Church of Christ especially benefitted from thirty-eight years of Dana's love and leadership of young people in both youth choirs and youth organizations. Through music, Dana dedicated her life to the service of children. Her spirit and music continue in the lives of her beloved grandchildren. Dana is survived by her husband Stan Sutter as well as her two children, Erin Blanck (Jorena Sneh) and Christian Blanck (Jennifer); four grandchildren, Danica Blanck-Sneh, Dane Blanck-Sneh, Ellen Blanck and Samuel Blanck; her brother Rick Jackson and her sister Laurie Nelson, and lifelong friend, Scott Blanck. A celebration of Dana's life will be held on Saturday, May 13 at 11am, and a Children and Family All-Sing will be held Friday, May 12 at 4:30pm. Both at Mayflower UCC, 106 E.
