Daniel M. Pilla
April 25, 1928 – June 5, 2021
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Dan Pilla, known to his family and close friends as “Riley.” He went to meet his Lord Jesus peacefully on the morning of June 4. To all who knew him, Dan was fiercely independent and a true patriot. He loved America and what she stood for. He was politically active since the late 1960s, and was instrumental in founding the Minnesota T Party, which became an official “third party” during the 1970s. Riley was passionate about baseball, having tried out for the New York Yankees in 1947. He passed that passion on to his kids and grandkids.
He was married to Carla Pilla (who preceded him in death) for 66 years. He is survived by sons Michael A., Daniel J. (wife Jean), Paul M. and Joseph P. Pilla; six grandchildren: Jordan, Anthony, MacKenzie (husband Grant) Nathan, Joshua and Gabriel; and one great grandchild, Anders.
A memorial service will be held at BRADSHAW, 4600 Greenhaven Drive at Highway 96, White Bear on Saturday, June 26. Visitation from 3-5PM, service to follow. No flowers, please, memorials only.
