Darlene Erickson

d. August 21, 2018

Erickson, Darlene P.
Age 92 of South Minneapolis, formerly of Waseca.
After graduating from high school, Darlene moved to Minneapolis and found employment with Honeywell. She met her future husband, Dorian, in November 1947; they were engaged in December and married in January of 1948! She began working as a teacher's aide for Minneapolis Public Schools when her youngest child was in kindergarten, and continued this work for over 20 years. She spent countless hours volunteering in the community and with church activities. There is no telling how many pasties she helped make over the decades! And she loved to interact with her grandkids and great-grandkids. As her mobility and health declined, Darlene spent her last few years at Walker Health Care Center. Despite her failing health, she was a woman of strong will and equally strong opinions. Even in the last months, you did well to not get her started on politics.
Darlene was preceded in death by her loving husband, Dorian, and granddaughter, Heather. She is survived by her children, Judy (Michael) Ayers, Dwain (Marlys), Donald; grandchildren, Katherine (Zac) Kotschwar, Megan (Paul) Ayers Assad, Kristy (Kelly) McConville, and Cassandra (Dominic) Iannazzo; 9 great-grandkids, and other loving family and friends. A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, September 8th, 2:30PM, with a gathering of family and friends 1:00-2:30, all at EPWORTH UNITED METHODIST CHURCH, 3207 37th Ave. S, Minneapolis. Desserts served after the service. Private family interment at Fort Snelling National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to Epworth United Methodist Church.
