Age 89, Darrel passed away peacefully in Stillwater, MN on November 3rd, 2017, surrounded in love by his family. Preceded in death by his parents Arthur and Dorathea and sisters Corinne and Ruth. Survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Marlis, brother Glenn (Judy), sons David (Yvette) and Douglas (Melanie), daughters Deborah (Rick) and DeLora (Eugene), 10 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. Darrel served in the U.S. Army in post-WWII Japan and again during the Korean War. He was an Engineering graduate of the U of M and had a 40-plus year career with 3M Tape Engineering in New York, Canada and St. Paul, finishing his career in 3M International Engineering, supporting and supervising installations in South America and Taiwan. Darrel was a kind and loving person, husband and father who also gave life-long service in many roles to his faith and church community. In addition to his love for spending time with family and friends, he had many interests, including photography, beekeeping, maintaining a huge garden, fishing, hunting and building or repairing just about anything. He will be forever loved and cherished by his family. Memorial and celebration of life service will be held at Salem Lutheran Church, 14940 62nd St N, Stillwater, MN, on November 18th. Memorial 9-11am, service at 11:00. Lunch served following the service. Private interment will be in Fort Snelling National Cemetery. Memorials preferred to Salem Lutheran School Tuition Assistance Fund.
