Passed away Saturday, April 15, 2006, at his winter home in Naples, FL. Dave was born in Stillwater, MN to Harry and Ruth Croonquist. He was married to his first wife, Anita, for 49 years until her death in 1998. He is survived by his wife, Barbara Jane (B.J.); sons Bob, John, and Dan; grandchildren Peter, David, and Abby; sister Marie Ashley and husband Dick; stepsons Bill Fagan and wife Laura, and Jack Fagan; step grandchildren J. D. and Alissa Fagan; cousins Don Nooleen and wife Donna, Clara Himes and husband Sam, Bob Croonquist and wife Luetta;nephews Steve and Dave Ashley and families, and niece Peggy Hewitt and family.
Dave lived a remarkable life. He graduated from the University of Minnesota with a business degree and taught accounting classes there. He served as an officer in the United States Navy for three years in the Asian theater during World War II. He joined H.B. Fuller Company in St. Paul, MN in 1951 and was Chief Financial Officer until his retirement in 1984.
Dave served as President of Rotary Club of St. Paul, one of the oldest Rotary chapters in the U. S., and he took pride in having perfect attendance for 35 years. He served on boards of many organizations and corporations, including Westin Nielsen, 1st Bank of Minnesota, Kativo, Boy Scouts of America, Rotary Clubs of America, Junior Achievement, H.B. Fuller Company, Winnebago Industries, and YMCA.
He was a longtime member of Incarnation Lutheran Church of Shoreview, MN and served in many capacities there.
Dave was an avid golfer and sports fan, particularly of the Minnesota Golden Gophers, as well as an enthusiastic gardener. His gentle manner, encouraging words and deeds, and countless charitable acts touched many lives and will be greatly missed.
Funeral services will be held Friday April 21 at 10:00 AM at TRINITY LUTHERAN CHURCH, 115 North 4th Street, Stillwater, MN. Interment Fairview Cemetery. Visitation 5 to 9 PM, Thursday, at BRADSHAW CELEBRATION OF LIFE CENTER, 2800 Curve Crest Blvd. (Northwest corner of County Rd. 5 and Highway 36) Stillwater, MN. Memorials may be made to Lutheran Social Services, Saint Paul YMCA, Rotary International, and Northern Star Council of Boy Scouts of America.
