Hey, David Carl
Age 80. David died at The Moments in Lakeville, MN under excellent MN Hospice care on October 12, 2022. He grew up in Edina, Minnesota where he enjoyed playing hockey. He graduated from the University of Michigan with a degree in political science, served in the Peace Corp in Tunisia, and lived most of the next fifty years around the world in Saudi Arabia, France, India, and Italy. He studied, taught, and wrote books on the Enneagram. A poet, he loved literature, films, and music. David returned to Minnesota in 2015 and began a new life in America, marrying his childhood sweetheart. Preceded in death by his parents, Don and Clarabelle Hey, and sister, Barbara Fields Siotis. Survived by his wife, Barbara Blanch Roy of St. Mary's Point, his brother, John Hey (Sandy) of Edina, his sister, Mary Hey (Maria Krenz) of Boulder, CO, his nephews' and niece's families, and Barbara's children and grandchildren. David was an athlete, trading tennis for pickleball until Multi-System Atrophy and Lewy Body beset him. He was ever curious, glad to laugh, and able to weep. He believed in the Buddhist path toward Enlightenment, understanding and discarding self and practicing compassion, especially for those whose lives are hard. David will be buried at Lakewood Cemetery in a private, family gathering. In lieu of flowers, he would have appreciated donations to Second Harvest, HEARTLAND, PO Box 64051, St. Paul, MN 55164-0051.
