David Walter Johnson

David lost a short battle with a very aggressive melanoma cancer on August 31, 2023. Born in St. Paul, MN to O. Walter and C. Bette Johnson on April 2, 1948.  Preceded in death by parents. Survived by loving wife Cathy “The Queen” of 47 years, son Andrew (Amy), daughter Catie and son Erik (Lauren), four grandchildren, sister Claudia (Harvey), brother Ward (Debbie), nieces, nephews and The Crossroads Family. Besides his family, his pride and joy was “The Farm” he purchased in 1975 north of Stillwater where he and Cathy raised their family. 

After graduating from Mahtomedi High School in 1966, he went on to gain his degree from Hamline University. His work experience included Conn-Co Shoes and Crossroads Properties, a commercial real estate company he established in 1989 with his father. David believed strongly in entrepreneurship and helping small businesses succeed even when others didn’t believe in them. He positively impacted countless individuals and businesses in his 34 years as President of Crossroads Properties. 

David had a passion for travel and a love for new experiences both near and far. With his wife and children, he had the opportunity to explore many corners of the world including Europe, Asia, Australia and Africa. He actively served his community first as an Eagle Scout, then through the Stillwater Township Board for 37 years and participated in the Oakdale and Woodbury Chambers of Commerce, to name a few of his contributions. 

He will be remembered for his positive attitude, generosity, and involvement in many business interests and investments. His greatest achievements were his many friendships and devotion to family.
