Delores Johnson

d. December 10, 2014

Delores Anderson Johnson was born on March 27, 1920 in Duluth, Minnesota to Herbert and Hilma Anderson of Lake Nebagamon, WI. She graduated from Superior State College with a degree in Education.

In 1944, Delores married George Lowell Mather, who died while serving in the Navy during WW II. She married Orlin E. Johnson Sr., in 1947, and spent the next 25 years raising their five children in New Jersey. In her 60s, Delores moved to Pennsylvania, where she was privileged to lovingly care for her granddaughter, Stacy. She later retired to Wimberley, TX, where she was active in church and civic functions.

In 2011, Delores moved to Waverly Gardens where she bonded with many new and dear friends. Chaplain Bruce Nelson provided wonderful spiritual guidance, immeasurable support, and compassion.

Delores was spiritual, loving, devoted, generous, compassionate, friendly, and elegant. She had unmatched dignity and grace. Delores relished her role as mother and grandmother. She cherished her five children, all of their children, and all of her great-grandchildren.

Delores was preceded in death by her husband George; her husband Orlin; her sister Doraine Peterson; and her brother-in-law Bob Peterson. She is survived by her brother Douglas Anderson (Jean); her children, Lee, Orlin Jr. (Gail), Madeleine, James (Michelle), and John (Ruthie); her 10 grandchildren, John, Bill, Elyn, Mary, Doug, Stacy, Joe, Lynnie, Liz, and Brad; and six great-grandchildren.

Delores was defined by her great faith and her love of family and friends. She will live on forever in all who were blessed to have known her.
