Delores Splieth

Delores K. Splieth, loving wife, mother and grandmother passed peacefully to her heavenly home on Monday, January 11, 2021.

Daughter of Adam, Sr. and Nancy Cecchini and born August 5, 1930 in Kenosha, WI, Delores was the eldest of six children: Thomas, Richard, Adam Jr., Dennis and Valmina. Delores met the love of her life working at Simmons Company where her Father also worked. Robert C. and Delores Splieth became one on June 30, 1951.

Robert and Delores raised five children while managing relocations to multiple cities including Janesville and Waukesha for Robert’s career at Wisconsin Bell (now AT&T), and finally landing in Appleton, WI in 1976. Throughout those years, Delores was devoted in supporting every aspect of raising her family including a few secretarial positions, 4H leader, Mt Olive Lutheran lunch helper, and so many other things her children remember that she did in loving dedication to them and to Robert. Robert and Delores enjoyed each other’s company on the golf course, walking and bike riding and supporting their church.

Delores and Robert also pursued their passion for travel, particularly in their retirement years when they traveled the world to see places like Greece, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Panama Canal, Alaska as well as many trips to see their children who were spread across the U.S. They also couldn’t wait to spend time with their grandchildren and Delores was sitter for their first grandchild while living in Appleton.  Delores always stayed in touch with her family no matter where they were, and once the ability to text message was widely available, Delores used it expertly!

For sixty years, Delores and Robert were together until Robert’s passing in June of 2012. A few years later, Delores moved to her new home in Stillwater, MN near her daughter Diane, son-in-law George and their family. Delores loved spending time with her daughter’s family rooting on the Packers, seeing movies, enjoying the theater, game nights, and her favorite past time - shopping trips. She enjoyed meeting and spending time with neighbor friends at the Oak Park Heights apartments where she lived. And she still made time to travel to see her kids in Florida, Georgia, Wisconsin and Missouri.

Delores is survived by her brother Adam Cecchini, Jr (Sandy) in Ormond Beach, FL, sister Val Wilda (John) in Racine, WI, brother Dennis Cecchini (Celeste) in Salt Lake City, UT. Delores is also survived by her eldest son: Glenn Splieth and his partner Travis Rigby in Ft Lauderdale, FL; daughters: Kristine Splieth in Atlanta, GA, Lynn (Michael) Wirl and their son Jon in Sun Prairie, WI, Diane (George) Light in Stillwater, MN and their children Jacob, Andrea (Ben) and Carolyn (Tom), Roberta (Steve) Neels in Ironton, MO and their stepdaughter Kalin.  And is also survived by her sister-in-law, Dorothy Merten of Kenosha, WI and sister-in-law, Doris Cecchini of Racine, WI.

Delores is predeceased by her brothers Thomas Cecchini and Richard Cecchini.

Delores was also beloved “furever” grandma to Lucca, Ellie, Mazzy, Howie and Egg.

Interment will be in Highland Memorial Park in Appleton. A memorial gathering for extended family and friends will be scheduled at a later date.
