Dennis Charles Johnson, 62, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Ash Wednesday while vacationing in Destin, FL. Dennis was born July 21, 1957 to Donald and Eunice Johnson in Litchfield, MN. He attended rural Litchfield Elementary and graduated from Litchfield High School in 1975.
Dennis achieved his AA in pre-engineering from Willmar Community College and then went on to the University of Minnesota. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering while interning in Cloquet, MN at Conwed Corp. He started his professional career in 1980 by working at Fischer Controls in Marshalltown, IA. While there, he became a licensed Professional Engineer. In 1988 Dennis moved to Owatonna, MN to work for Cybex International Inc. On November 21, 1992, Dennis and Judy were married. They started a family and had three sons, Jacob (’93), Joseph (’94) and Timothy (’97). In 1997, Dennis taught Thermodynamics at Mankato State University. From 1998-2000, he worked at SPX Power Team in Owatonna and built a home for his family. In 2001, Dennis moved his family to Stillwater, MN where he held the role of Director of Engineers at Specialty Manufacturing Company for the next 19 years.
Throughout his life, Dennis enjoyed exploring the outdoors through hiking, skiing, sailing, and fishing. He loved to travel with his family, creating everlasting memories. Dennis was an amazing father to his sons. He always took the time to help and to make it to their schooling and sporting events. He was a devoted husband to his wife and loved her so dearly. He was a caring brother who always wanted the best for his family. He was so much more to so many more people because he truly was a great man.
Dennis is survived by his wife, Judy; his sons, Jacob (Mollie), Joseph (Alexis), and Timothy; his siblings, Karen Johnson, Steven (Peggy) Johnson, and Kristine (Kevin) Midtling; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Dennis was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be held at BRADSHAW, 2800 Curve Crest Blvd on Sunday, March 8 from 4-8pm. Funeral service will be at OUR SAVIOR'S LUTHERAN CHURCH, 1616 W. Olive, on Monday, March 9 at 11am, with visitation one hour prior.
