Age 76 of Stillwater
Passed away December 31st, 2018 after a courageous battle with MDS/Leukemia. Denny was proud to have been from Frogtown and a 1960 graduate of Mechanic Arts High School. Denny coached youth football for 18 years for the VAA (Valley Athletic Association). Preceded in death by his parents, Theresa and Walter Achterling and Charles Coleman. Survived by his wife of 57 years, Alice (Keenan); children, Alice "Allie" (Mark) Lathe, Daniel, Douglas, Catherine (Tim) Michel, Mike (Heather), and Greg (Emily); siblings, Edward and Bruce (Kim) Achterling; grandchildren, Sam Schield, Stephanie Greeder, Lindsay Coleman, Jesse Domek, Jack, Abigail, Max, and Sean Michel; Dean Coleman, Hayley Coleman; great-grandchildren, Cameron and Cadence Greeder; beloved nieces and nephews; and many other loving extended family and friends. A celebration of Denny's life will be held Friday, January 4th, 5:00-8:00 PM at BRADSHAW, 2800 Curve Crest Blvd, Stillwater. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, January 5th, 11:00 AM at ST. MICHAEL'S CATHOLIC CHURCH, 611 3rd St. S, Stillwater. To everyone who helped make his one dream come true, the restoration of his 1950 Ford, please know that you allowed a man who knew his time was short to feel like a teenager again. He had the summer of his life with the car he affectionately called the "Mean Machine". To the infusion and oncology nurses at Lakeview Hospital, affectionately known as "Denny's Angels" thank you for excellent care and the Love you shared with Denny.
