Dennis “Denny” “LeRoy” Lentz

Age 70, of Mahtomedi, passed away at his home on January 11, 2022.

He had a love of cooking, traveling, history, and especially enjoyed his black & white cowboy TV shows, not to mention the Twilight Zone.  He was a very caring easygoing guy that went with the flow and always met “friends” along the road of life.  He loved fishing and made a special trip to his favorite fishing hole every year with his best friend Greg. He wasn’t a handy man but he wasn’t afraid to try.  When visiting in Rochester he would always work with his bother-in-law, learning along the way, and while in the workshop he became affectionately known as Ernie’s ‘Work Slave’.  His real passion was cooking and he had no equal in the kitchen.  Holiday dinners as well as a simple cookout became all the better because of Den’s talents and yes when Ernie helped him in the kitchen he became affectionately known as Den’s ‘Work Slave’.  He enjoyed the simple things; going for walks together with Jacquie and his dog Chica and Friday steak night.

Every trip back to Toledo had to include a family gathering.  We all went out to dinner and spent the rest of the evening reminiscing.

He grew close to his mother in-law and the two of them had a special relationship and closeness. He would always stay with her when visiting and made her breakfast lunch and dinner every day.  Eerily both passing within weeks of each other.

His calm and sensitive demeanor was a trademark for all his years at Ecumen where he worked his way up to Director of IT until his retirement in 2018.  He returned as a consultant continuing his work on network up grades and new developments.

He was preceded in death by parents, Robert and June (McClure) Lentz, brothers Floyd and Phillip Lentz and mother-in-law Dolores Rodriguez.  He will be sadly missed by wife, Jacquie, daughter, Kristina (Ani) Gautam, granddaughter Emma, his twin sister Denise (James) Facemyre, sister Kathleen (Dennis) Duffey, brother Glen (Patti) Lentz, sister-in-law Gloria Byron, brother-in-law Ernest (Irene) Rodriguez, Michelle Giordano and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

A celebration of Den’s life will be held Monday, January 24th at Saint Andrew’s Great Hall, 900 Stillwater Road, Mahtomedi where he served, grew in his faith and made many friends.  Visitation will be from 12:00 to 1:00 P.M., service at 1:00 P.M. Face masks are required. A Livestream of the service is available at https://control.resi.io/webplayer/video.html?id=ea98a04e-f2ba-46f5-a03c-8fa1b2c7e003
