Diana Abrahamson Ensign
Age 72 of Stillwater, MN., passed away October 4, 2013. Preceded in death by mother, Lysbeth Laughlin Abrahamson, father Raymond W. Abrahamson. Survived by life partner of 22 years Debra (Debbie) Klein; three loving children, Thomas C. (Chuck) Ensign, Jr. (Tonya Gander Ensign); Andrea Ensign (Eric Church); and Brian Ensign (Jolie); brother Ray Abrahamson Jr. (Virginia) and six wonderful grandchildren; Emma, Will, Alec, Rachel, Gunnar and Bode; nephew and many nieces.
Diana attended William Woods College, Fulton, MO, and received her BS from the U of M, followed by her MA in Counseling, U of W, River Falls. She was a teacher in a one room schoolhouse on the Wyoming plains, a GED teacher & an EAP Counselor at Control Data/Ceridian where she won numerous awards as a top performer and outstanding colleague.
She was an active volunteer in Therapy Dog International, along with her Golden Doodle, Baloo. She was a volunteer facilitator at Family Means for Wise Wonderful Women, a support group for women over 60.
Diana was a resident of Hudson and then Stillwater for over 25 years. She adored her life partner Debbie and their cabin life together in WI. She was passionate about the outdoors including kayaking, canoeing & fishing and baking bread & pizza in her self-built wood-fire oven. Her talents included woodworking, refinishing and an incredible ability to build or fix just about anything under the sun! Affectionately known as "fishy grandma" by her adoring grandkids, her spirit and independence touched so many wonderful & devoted friends.
A celebration of Diana's beautiful life will be held Tuesday Oct. 8 at 1:00 p.m. at Bradshaw Funeral Home, 2800 Curve Crest Blvd. in Stillwater; reception following. Shiva will be held Tuesday 10/8 and Wednesday 10/9 at 7:00 p.m. at 1317 2nd St. S., Stillwater. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the MN Humane Society or the donor's favorite charity. Attendees at Diana's service are requested to bring a single flower as a tribute to Diana's life spirit.
