37 year old St. Paul resident Dillon Dean Bakke, passed away peacefully on August 27th at Regions Hospital surrounded by his family.
Dillon was born in Rochester, MN on February 25, 1985 to parents: Teresa Schnell and Larry Bakke.
Dillon spent the first few years of his childhood in Rochester before relocating to St. Paul, where he graduated High School from St. Paul Open School. Dillon displayed exceptional creativity and artistic talents from an early age, which earned him a scholarship to the Art Institute of Minnesota, where he studied Graphic Design.
During his artistic career, Dillon focused on independent creative ventures, and worked in collaboration with other established artists & musicians. Dillon often showcased his artwork in local galleries.
Dillon's took immense pride caring for disabled and mentally challenged men at a long-term care facility.
Dillon was a political activist and at times worked as an independent journalist covering various political conventions.
Dillon was a bright and creative soul, and he will forever be remembered...not only as a great artist, but also as a son, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend.
Dillon is survived by his Mother, Teresa Schnell of St. Paul, MN; Father, Larry Bakke of Austin, MN; Step Father, Kip Russell of North Minneapolis, MN; Sister, Erin (Brian) Karlstad of Red Wing, MN; Brothers, Gunner (Megan) Bakke of Tarpon Springs, FL, Wyatt Bakke of Austin, MN, Thor Bakke of Austin, MN; Nieces and nephews, Ethan, Faith, Grace, Joseph, and Joy; As well as several Aunts, Uncles, cousins, and other family and friends.
Dillon is preceded in death by his grandparents: Stan & Elenor Bakke, and Frank & Margaret Schnell.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
