Donald Ganje, age 74, passed away on June 19, 2024, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Don was born on August 5th in Saint Paul and lived his entire life in the Twin Cities, with his last several years in Stillwater.
Don spent most of his career working for the City of Saint Paul as a Landscape Architect. Some of his many design projects include Mears Park, The Bruce Vento Nature Sanctuary, Raspberry Island, The Great River Passage Master Plan and Como Regional Park.
Don was survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Candace; children Melissa Kramolis (Jeremy) and Mike (Stephanie); grandchildren Orion, Jaxon and Oliver; sisters Marilyn Ganje-Fling (Matt) and Nancy Phelps (Steve Skold); brother-in-law Richard Tvedten and sister-in-law Pam Rohde (Steve); and many nieces and nephews. Don was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Kay Ganje, his sister Joan Tvedten, and brother-in-law Bowen Phelps.
Don was an inspiration to so many people throughout his life, but especially during these past seventeen months as he battled pancreatic cancer with grace, hope, and determination. He will be dearly missed.
A Celebration Service will be held on July 1, 2024, at Hope Church, 7910 15th Street North, Oakdale, MN 55128. Visitation 12:30 p.m. and Service at 2:00 p.m. A Celebration of Life is being planned for a future date. Memorial gifts may be made to Como Friends, 1225 Estabrook Drive, St. Paul, MN 55103.
