Donald Thomas Raleigh, age 86, passed away on May 19, 2024, surrounded by his family.
Don was born in St. Paul, Minnesota on July 17, 1937, to Leo and Veronica ("Skeezix") Raleigh. Don spent his early years in St. Paul attending Sacred Heart Catholic School and moved to Lake Elmo when his parents took over the family farm. Don graduated from Stillwater Area High school in 1955 and joined the United States Marine Corps. Following his service in the Marines, Don attended the University of Minnesota earning an undergraduate degree in Political Science and a law degree. Don joined the law firm of Lawson, Kelly, Ranum & Raleigh, and practiced law for 20 years in the Stillwater/Lake Elmo area. In 1986, he joined Lake Elmo Bank as President/CEO. Don was passionate about community banking. He was active in many local community organizations as well as banking associations. He retired as CEO but remained on
the Board of Directors until his death.
Don was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather. The light of his life was his wife Snowell with whom he built a life and family in their 61 years together. His role as father and grandfather was always important to him and he maintained a special and unique relationship with each of his three children, their spouses and his eight grandchildren.
Don was preceded in death by his parents, Leo and Veronica, sister Darlene, brother James and brother-in-law Ralph Nelson.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years Snowell; his children Becky and husband Bryan, Betsy, Dan, and wife Deb; grandchildren, John, Rachel and Kathleen Billingsley, Maria, Elizabeth and Anna Landherr, Megan and Joe Raleigh; nieces/nephews. He will be greatly missed.
Funeral will be held on Thursday, May 23, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. with a visitation one hour prior at Guardian Angels Church, 8260 4th St. North, Oakdale, MN 55128. A luncheon celebrating Don's life will be held immediately following the funeral.
