Donnie Ray Hargate

Age 72, was born December 5,1948 and went home to be with the Lord, surrounded by loving family, on June 7, 2021. He was preceded in death by parents, Victor and Edna Hargate; brother, Aaron Hargate, friend and brother in the Lord, Steve Brown and friend and sister in the Lord, Florence Egbujor. Don is survived by his loving wife, Carol; children, Kristin Vail (Mike) and Paul (Amber) Hargate; grandchildren, Micah and Mason Vail; sister, Lavonda Timm, brother, Randy (Cindy) Hargate; nephews, Mark Timm and Tyler Hargate; niece, Kaitlin Hargate; spiritually adopted brother, Benjamin Egbujor; spiritually adopted daughter, Maggie Trevino; spiritual daughter, Anitha Paul (India), and spiritual sons Bishop Earl Gilchrist and Pastor Prabajan Shahi (Nepal).

Don was born in Bragg City, Missouri and lived in East Prairie Missouri until moving to St. Louis as a teenager. In 1968 he moved to Rockford, Illinois where he met Carol McDaniel. Don and Carol married in 1970. After graduating from high school, Don completed barber school and worked as a barber until 1973. That same year Don and Carol moved to St. Paul, Minnesota in order for Don to attend bible school. In 1976 Don graduated with a degree in Applied Theology from Apostolic Bible Institute and later a Bachelor of Science degree in Ministry from the University of Northwestern.

Over the years Don had a variety of careers, including serving as a volunteer chaplain for the Minnesota Department of Corrections at Oak Park Heights, and the Washington County Sheriff’s Department. He served as an associate pastor at Apostolic Bible Church until assuming a senior pastor role in 1990 at True Life Christian Church in Stillwater, Minnesota. Don had a heart to help those in need and to mentor young men and women in ministry. With support from True Life Christian Church, Don founded We Care International, a faith based charitable work in India that touched the lives of many. Don and Carol served together in international ministry, including England, India, Nigeria, and Nepal.

We celebrate the life and grieve the death of this true man of God. We cherish the memories of Don, a devoted loving husband, dad, grandpa, and a dedicated servant of God. He will always be loved, honored, and remembered.

Service 11:30am Wednesday, June 16TH, at BRADSHAW CELEBRATION OF LIFE CENTER,  2800 Curve Crest Boulevard, Stillwater.  Visitation 6-8pm Tuesday, June 15TH.
