Passed away peacefully at Woodbury Health Care Center on November 1, 2003. She was born in St. Paul, MN, April 13, 1910, to Charles and Mabel (Case) Davis, the oldest of three daughters. After graduating from Central High School, she worked as a stenographer for the Veterans Administration at Fort Snelling. She left the Veterans Administration to serve in the Coast Guard in WWII. After the war, she returned to the Veterans Administration and worked as an adjudicator until retirement at age 55. She then attended the University of Minnesota, earning a BA degree. Dorothy took care of her invalid mother for many years. In later years she enjoyed being active in the College Club of St. Paul, visiting with neighborhood children, swimming, walking, and gardening. Preceded in death by her sister, Ethel Barrett. Survived by her sister, Ruth Nielson, of Cape Coral, Florida; nephew, Michael Barrett Jr. (Jacqueline); nieces, Pat Megarry (Michael), Charlene Carlson (Richard), and Sue DeGolier; 11 great nieces and nephews; and 11 great-great nieces and nephews. She was always interested in their activities. A memorial service and interment will be held at Fort Snelling National Cemetery at 10:15 AM on Wednesday.
